Service Control System (SCS), offers cable operators
an automated solution for managing subscriber
bandwidth. By assigning bandwidth caps for specific
types of HSD traffic, it enables differentiated
service tiers that address the needs of the low-end
market segments without cannibalizing other service
tiers. The solution also supports caps for specific
traffic types, like P2P, in standard and premium
tiers, to prevent abuse and to lower networking
costs. Sigma Systems’ Malicious Attack Service
Package interfaces to the Ellacoya IP SCS to offer
service providers and their subscribers an automated
solution for mitigtion of malicious network traffic
generated by viruses, worms, SPAM, and illegal P2P
traffic. This solution utilizes and PacketCable
compliant policy server in conjunction with the
Ellacoya IP SCS to enable an automated PCMM
(PacketCable Multimedia) policy-controlled response
to malicious traffic that can vary by service tier
