Sigma Renews Contract with Cox Communications
Through 2010
Sigma Systems' Proven Solutions to Manage
Current and Next Generation Broadband Cable Services
TORONTO, CANADA - September 15, 2005 - Sigma Systems, the
leading provider of service management OSS solutions for
delivering next-generation services on cable, wireless and IP
broadband networks, today announced Cox Communications selected
Sigma Systems as its long-term OSS Service Management vendor.
This contract extension through 2010 represents the significant
commitment by Cox to define, deliver and manage current and next
generation broadband IP services using the Sigma Service
Management Platform and other complementary OSS product
solutions.
“The modular architecture of Sigma’s Service Management Platform
makes it a good long-term choice for Cox for integrating and
managing complex systems and services in our distributed
deployment environment,” said Mark Yang, Director of Data
Products and Services for Cox Communications. “Sigma’s Service
Management Platform’s scalable and configurable architecture
enables Cox to reduce the amount of time it takes to configure,
deploy and manage innovative broadband, multi-media and
telephony services across our nationwide network.”
As part of the contract extension, Cox will upgrade its
existing Sigma OSS infrastructure to the latest Sigma Service
Management Platform release version 3.0 (SMP). This upgrade will
provide Cox with a robust J2EE compliant Service Delivery
Platform and enable enhanced subscriber entitlement management,
order management, network resource management, service
authorization and service provisioning/activation capabilities.
SMP 3.0 also provides a complete service creation toolkit, which
provides Service Providers like Cox with the ability to define
and deploy traditional broadband and telephony services as well
as waves of new and advanced interactive real-time services.
“The functionality afforded by the Service Management
Platform enables Cox Communications to abstract the services it
offers from the underlying service and network technologies,
thereby promoting service flexibility and adaptability,” said
Yang. “The Sigma Platform allows Cox to evolve and change its
network, add new vendor systems and services while shielding the
impact to existing BSS and OSS infrastructure.”
“Cox has been a valued customer of Sigma since 2000. They
currently use Sigma’s solutions to manage their high-speed data,
circuit-switched telephony, and VoIP services nationwide” said
Tim Spencer, President and Chief Operating Officer, Sigma
Systems. “We provide Cox with the scalability, reliability and
performance required for their growing subscriber base, as well
as the relevant architecture to enable new and innovative
subscription and on-demand services in the future. SMP will be
the OSS foundation for future IP service offerings at Cox.”
