Social Responsibility
In Spring of 2010, Sigma partnered with Free the Children and adopted a village in India named Udawad with the goal of realizing community members' rights to education, health care, clean water and gainful employment.
Through Sigma's hard work, dedication and generous contributions, we have been able to raise over $50,000.00 for Udawad, successfully aiding in all 4 areas. A new school & health station have been built, water sanitization projects are in place, education programs are well underway and the community members of Udawad are beginning to gain the skills, knowledge and strength to begin looking forward.
Employee events take place year round such as: various prize draws, payroll drives, bake sales, book sales, golf events, dress down for summer, We Day and so many more!
Udawad is one of the most remote villages located in the region of Kumbhalgarh, a tehsil comprised of a collection of very small villages within Rajsamand District. Udawad is located 100km from Udaipur City in Rajasthan, India. Within the state of Rajasthan, 75 percent of the population lives in rural areas; they have faced a long history of social exclusion and marginalization. |
 |
The village is surrounded by dense forest with high hills and uneven landscape. Due to the absence of proper water and irrigation systems the villagers are unable to cultivate the land, thus, the main occupation of the villagers is migrant labour.
Our focus for Udawad is to provide the means and opportunities for education, water & sanitation, healthcare and alternative income. Sigma Systems is dedicated to these projects, enabling the entire community to break the cycle of poverty for future generations.
