Technical Advisory Board
The Sigma Technical Advisory Board is a team of industry leaders headed by Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Brian Cappellani that meets quarterly to explore industry trends, standards, issues, opportunities and ensure that Sigma remains on the edge of software innovation and constantly aligned with global customers' needs.
The thought-leaders that make up the Sigma Systems' Technical Advisory Board include:
Eric Burger – Adjunct Professor of Computer Science, Georgetown University
Professor Burger is on the faculty of Georgetown University, teaching networking operating systems, and performing research on protocols and databases. He has an extensive consulting practice to Internet infrastructure manufacturers; telecommunications network equipment manufacturers; mobile application developers; and the financial services, legal, governance, and regulatory industries. Dr. Burger is the Chairman Emeritus and a Member of the SIP Forum Board, a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society, a Trustee of the IETF, and Chair of the IEEE-USA Committee on Communications Policy.
Prior to his appointment at Georgetown, Dr. Burger was the CTO of NeuStar; AGM of the Communications Products Division at BEA Systems and prior to that Corporate Deputy CTO; held various positions at Cable & Wireless, MCI, Cantata Technology, Brooktrout Technology, ADC/Centirgram, and Texas Instruments. Dr. Burger co-founded SnowShore Networks, where he invented the SIP-controlled multi-function media server. In addition to Sigma Systems, he serves on the advisory boards of AGNITY, Mobera Systems, and Dexrex LLC and served on the boards of Information Appliances International and Vivexchange.com, both of which exited successfully.
Mike Lee – Chief Strategy Officer, Rogers Communications
Michael Lee is Chief Strategy Officer for Rogers Communications Inc. Mr. Lee is responsible for strategy development, business development, and strategic partner management for the Rogers Communications' group of companies which include Rogers Cable, Rogers Wireless and Rogers Media.
Previously, Mr. Lee held the role of Vice President, Strategy and Development for Rogers Cable where he managed the development of new businesses and services for video, high speed Internet and telephony.
Alan Quayle – Telecom Industry Consultant
Alan has 18 years experience in the telecommunication industry, focused on developing profitable new businesses in service providers, suppliers and consultancies. He consults extensively around the world on Web/Voice/Telco 2.0, SDP (Service Delivery Platform), CDM (Content Delivery Management), ODP (On-Device Portal), and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) with operators such as AT&T Mobility, Etislat, M1, Swisscom, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone; and suppliers such as Adobe, Alcatel, BEA, Ericsson, Huawei, Leapstone (Motorola) and Nokia Siemens Networks.
